The Building Allocations, Step 2, page is required if any Title I funds are retained.  Note: If Title I funds are not retained, the screen can still be accessed, but the fields will not be editable.

You may also click on one of the page links in the left-hand column to go to the help screen for the corresponding page.

Warning:  If you enter data and do not save your data, it will not be saved when you close the page.  You can choose to save the information after filling out the entire Building Allocations, Step 2, page, but it is recommended to save occasionally so that information will not be lost.

Attendance Center Grid

The Attendance Center Grid will be pre-populated with the school buildings that have a status of 'Active' or 'Pending' in the KSDE Directory system.  The Attendance Center grid for Building Allocations, Step 2, will not be editable.  Any changes will need to be made on the Building Allocations, Step 1 page.

Note:  Buildings that were marked as feeder schools on Step 1 will not display in the Attendance Center grid of Step 2.

Review the data in the Attendance Center Grid.  Note: Each of the columns can be sorted by clicking on the column headers.

Bldg #

The Building #'s for each of the Buildings as assigned by the KSDE Directory system.

Attendance Center

The official name of the Attendance Centers for each of the Buildings as entered in the KSDE Directory system.

Feeder Count

Non-Feeder Buildings : The total enrollment and low-income data for each building will display along with the percent of poverty.

If the Feeder Count column has a value greater than 0 in it, then it indicates that the school building listed has that number of school buildings that feed in to it.  The data entered for this row will be the combined data of the listed school and the feeder school(s).

Feeder Buildings : In order to view the data for each individual building, click on the name of the school building.  An information box will open displaying all of the data for the buildings that feed in to the designated building.

Total Enrollment

Field where the total number of Public and Non-Public students for the school building (and any associated feeder schools) will be displayed based on the data entered on Step 1.

Total Low Income Enrollment

Field where the total number of Public and Non-Public Low Income students for the school building (and any associated feeder schools) will be displayed based on the data entered on Step 1.

Percent of Poverty (Public & Non-Public)

Field where the Percent of Poverty for both Public and Non-Public students for the school building (and any associated feeder schools) will be displayed based on the data entered on Step 1.

Percent of Poverty (Public)

Field where the Percent of Poverty for Public students only for the school building (and any associated feeder schools) will be displayed based on the data entered on Step 1.

Review the Totals rows.

Total

These rows will contain the total values for each of the corresponding building levels.  The number of Total rows will depend on the different building levels that are present in your district.  Here are examples of the different building levels:

  • Elementary
  • High School
  • Junior High School
  • Kindergarten
  • Middle School
  • Other
  • Prekindergarten
  • Special Schools

Ranking Methods

Process:

Select one of the following choices for ranking:

  • Use Public and Non-Public % Poverty for Ranking -- This selection will use the data in the 'Percent of Poverty (Public & Non-Public)' column for the school buildings listed in the Attendance Center grid in order to determine ranking for Step 3.
  • Use Only Public % Poverty for Ranking -- This selection will use only the data in the 'Percent of Poverty (Public)' column for the school buildings listed in the Attendance Center grid in order to determine ranking for Step 3.

Select one of the following ranking methods for the attendance areas:

Note: All Attendance Centers at or above 75% poverty will automatically be ranked.

For attendance areas below 75% poverty, select the desired ranking method by choosing one of the three (3) choices:

  1. Districts with total enrollment less than 1,000.
    • Ranking within entire district -- This selection will be for districts with a total enrollment of less than 1,000, and will display the buildings in rank order by highest 'Percent of Poverty' first on the Building Allocations, Step 3 page.
  2. Districts with total enrollment equal to or greater than 1,000 serving at least one eligible building below 35% poverty.
    • Ranking within entire district -- This selection will be for districts with a total enrollment of more than 1,000, and will display the buildings in rank order by highest 'Percent of Poverty' first on the Building Allocations, Step 3 page.  At least one of the eligible buildings will be below 35% poverty.
    • Ranking by same or similar grade spans -- This selection will be for districts with a total enrollment of more than 1,000 and will display the buildings in order by building level (alphabetical), and will then be displayed in order by the highest 'Percent of Poverty'.  At least one of the eligible buildings will be below 35% poverty.
  3. Districts with total enrollment equal to or greater than 1,000 serving eligible buildings at or above 35% poverty.
    • Ranking within entire district -- This selection will be for districts with a total enrollment of more than 1,000, and will display the buildings in rank order by highest 'Percent of Poverty' first on the Building Allocations, Step 3 page.  All of the eligible buildings will be at or above 35% poverty.
    • Ranking by same or similar grade spans -- This selection will be for districts with a total enrollment of more than 1,000 and will display the buildings in order by building level (alphabetical), and will then be displayed in order by the highest 'Percent of Poverty'.  All of the eligible buildings will be at or above 35% poverty.

Saving Data
 

Click on one of the following buttons:  Note: Clicking either of these buttons will run the error checking for the page.

Save and Continue Step 2

Clicking this button will save all of the data entered on the 'Building Allocations, Step 2', page.  The page will remain open and the list of error messages should be reviewed at the bottom of the page.

Save and Go to Step 3

Clicking this button will save all of the data entered on the 'Building Allocations, Step 2', page.  The page will close and the 'Building Allocations, Step 3' will open.  Note:  All data will be saved even if there are errors, so the 'Building Allocations, Step 2, page will need to be re-opened if the errors are to be reviewed.

Go To Step 1

Clicking this button will not save any data, but will simply change the page to the 'Building Allocations, Step 1' page.

Errors

Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the 'Show Details' link to view any errors for the page.

Note:  Any time changes are saved, the errors section should be reviewed for additional errors.

The following are a list of errors that may appear on the 'Building Allocations, Step 2' page:

Definition/Process

Error messages -- data will be saved on the page, but these error messages must be corrected before the application can be submitted.

Cannot select Ranking Method 2 when no eligible buildings are below 35% poverty.

This error will appear if either of the radio buttons under ranking method 2 ('Districts with total enrollment equal to or greater than 1,000 serving at least one eligible building below 35% poverty') was selected and there are not any eligible buildings below 35% poverty.

--> Change the ranking method to one of the options under ranking method 3 ('Districts with total enrollment equal to or greater than 1,000 serving eligible buildings at or above 35% poverty').

Cannot select Ranking Method 3 when no eligible buildings are at or above 35% poverty.

This error will appear if either of the radio buttons under ranking method 3 ('Districts with total enrollment equal to or greater than 1,000 serving eligible buildings at or above 35% poverty') was selected and there are not any eligible buildings at or above 35% poverty.

--> Change the ranking method to one of the options under ranking method 2 ('Districts with total enrollment equal to or greater than 1,000 serving at least one eligible building below 35% poverty').

Please select one of the choices for ranking based on poverty.

This error will appear if there has not been a selection for ranking based on poverty.

--> Select one of the following radio buttons for ranking based on poverty:

  • Use Public and Non-Public % Poverty for Ranking
  • Use Only Public % Poverty for Ranking

Please select one of the choices for ranking either within the entire district or by same or similar grade spans.

This error will appear if there has not been a selection for ranking either within the entire district or by same or similar grade span.

--> Select one of the following radio buttons for ranking for either within the entire district or by same or similar grade span.

  1. Districts with total enrollment less than 1,000.
